Cat and Mouse

In a shootout, Westlake inadvertently kills EMIL FARKAS, an international assassin. She then becomes the target of Emil's girlfriend, LENA WEISINGER a former agent of the East German Stasi. Lena is obsessed with killing Westlake—and making her feel the pain she feels over her loss. At the same time, The VIPER Team has to foil Lena and the rest of her crew of killers' murderous mission—the assassination of the secretary of state.

Determined to seek vengeance for Emil's death, Lena breaks into Metropol's records department and copies files on everything from Westlake's address to her family history. That night, Lena calls and confronts Westlake about her police officer father's dubious past, then leads her to a bomb planted in her apartment. Westlake braces for certain death, but instead of an explosion, Lena's recorded voice warns that she can kill her anytime she wants.

After arranging a meeting with Sammy Travers, the man suspected of murdering Westlake's dad, Lena uses makeup and a wig to transform herself into a convincing likeness of Westlake. She then kills Travers with the same kind of gun that was previously stolen from Westlake. When Catlett brings in Westlake as a suspect, a witness picks her out of the lineup. Lena's scheme is successful -- Westlake is framed for murder.

Cole, hoping to bait Lena into the open, convinces Catlett to release Westlake. Sure enough, Lena confronts her and once again threatens to make her pay for killing Emil. The next day, the team learns that the Prime Minister of Indonesia is in town for peace talks, and that Emil met with leaders of the guerrilla faction there several times. They deduce that Lena plans to kill the Prime Minister in order to stop the treaty.

Cole and Westlake arrive at the conference center just as the Prime Minister is about to step into a wired elevator. Benny is caught in the gunfire while Luc, another of Lena's partners, is stopped by Cole in the Defender. When Westlake traps Lena in the stairwell, they begin to struggle. Lena lunges for Westlake, and the momentum carries her over the balcony, where she falls two stories to her death.
